PCI (Peripheral Component Inconnect — соединение внешних компонентов). Этот интерфейс поддерживает тактовую частоту до 33МГц (вариант PCI 2.1 — до 66 МГц), имеет пиковую пропускную способность до 132 Мбайт/с (264 Мбайт/с для 32 разрядных и 528 Мбайт/с для 64-разрядных данных на частоте 66 МГц).
Конструктивно разъем состоит из двух следующих подряд секций по 64 контакта. Внутри второй секции имеется пластмассовая поперечная перегородка (ключ) для предотвращения неправильной установки карт. Разъемы и карты к ним поддерживают уровни сигналов либо 5В, либо 3,3В, либо оба уровня (универсальные).
Интерфейс обеспечивает поддержку Bus Mastering и систему автоматической конфигурации компонентов при установке (Plug-and-Play).
PCI — является сейчас самым распространенным и универсальным интерфейсом, но начиная с середины 2004 года он начнет уступать место более скоростной PCI Express.
